摘要：The paper summarizes disposable references concerning use of ground-beetle communities (Coleoptera: Carabidae) as a bioindication tool with special attention to forest ecosystems. This group represents a good example of the model groups, it is sufficiently deversified as for ecological demands and belongs to the best studied and popular group. Also the study of ground-beetle communities is relatively easy and standardized, enabling replicable results good to evaluate. The review results confirmed a good reaction of ground-beetle communities to the ecological gradients, on the level of vegetation altitudinal zones and their groups (low, middle and mountain altitudes) as well as ecological series in the sense of forest typology and geobiocenology. Ground-beetle communities indicate the changes in the tree species composition, natural forest communities and extreme sites very well. They reflect properly the changes in the environmental conditions, on the other hand they show excellent regeneration potential after site disturbances. The evaluation of the ground-beetle communities contributes to the global forest ecosystem evaluation and can very well support the standard forest stand evaluation (structure and site classification) by additional information.
