摘要:First-generation spruce stands on former agricultural soils represent an important part of regularly managed forests in the Czech Republic. The article deals with wood properties of different site origins, i. e. spruce stand on former arable land compared to continuous spruce forest. Both stands were studied at comparable age of 50 years. The wood was analysed for: wood density, flexural strength, compression strength and tensile test. The mean value of first-generation wood density (436 kg.m-3) is slightly higher compared to samples of old-growth origin (430 kg.m-3) though the difference was not found to be statistically significant. As for the other properties analysed, wood of first-generation stand origin does not seem to have worse parameters than wood of old-growth forest.
