摘要：The paper deals with the growth reaction and defoliation of beeches on shelterwood cutting of various intensity on experimental plot Štolpichy. Plot is situated in the Jizerské hory Mts. in mature beech stand with admixture of spruce and sycamore. Different intensity of release treatments divided the stand into 9 plots. For next analysis, the plots were grouped into 5 variants according to the intensity of cutting. Diameter increment reaction and foliage changes were studied during 10-year period. Releasing positively influenced the increment of remaining trees, increment reaction decreased with increasing stand density. Mean diameter increment was 2.4 cm in the 10-year period. Mean foliage decreased from 90% to 80% during the 10 years. Defoliation of trees was affected by complex of factors.
