摘要:The rapid rises in populatio n al ong with increased urb an l and use have generated co nsid erab le tra vel d ema nd as wel l as numerous tra nspo rt problems. The cong estio n, safety and environment al p roblems has i ncreased to such an ex tent that it has b ecome i ncreasing ly difficul t to navi gate due to the comb ined effects of rapid mot oriza tion and urbani zatio n. With the d evelopment o f Intelligent Tra nspo rt System (ITS) and Geo grap hic Informat ion System (GIS), the increa singl y int ensi ve demand of rout e guidance system in real ti me has coinci ded with the i ncreasing gro wth of ro ads in real world . A route guid ance system helps t o ta ckle many of the t ransport ation pro blems by minimizing congestio n and ensuri ng uni form utiliza tion of the ro ad netwo rk . Fo r thi s purpose mo deling o f real ro ad netwo rk into digital map format is necessary tha t req uires large a mount of prep rocessing time and human effo rt. The main impetus b ehind this project is to develop a Web Ba sed GIS Rout e Finder Syst em that not only model s and pro cess the real roa d network to digital fo rmat on the fly b ut a lso p rovid e user with d ifferent route find er o ptions. The main a im o f t he develop ed system is to minimize number o f re-comp utati ons for fi nding shortest route and al ternate route. Thi s lea ds to less memory consum ption and less wa stag e of reso urces resulting in minimized response ti me. The work imp lemented in this report is a sma ll co ntrib ution to the ma jor work impl emented by g reat resea rchers.
