摘要：Today’s Operating Systems (OS) are much more advanced in terms of usability, ease of use, hardware compatibility and performance. The major player in the desktop OS market is Microsoft Windows. While Microsoft claims that windows is the fastest operating system, but the open source communities like those of Linux have demonstrated using proofs that Linux is much faster than windows in various aspects. Also, with the advent of viruses, security issues were raised in front of windows which drew people’s attention towards Linux. The recent advancements in Linux have made it much more user friendly and compatible with most of the hardware platforms. This paper basically explains the distributions of Linux and performance differences of windows and Linux in similar environments. algor
