摘要:In this article we present a prototype online course on Port logistics destined to post graduate students
in industrial engineering and maritime transport schools. The course uses problem-solving techniques
to motivate the adult learner. The first step to realize the learning objectives is to make the student
virtually live a problem in a real setting. In a very challenging way, he is required to solve the problem
to proceed throughout the curriculum. Exercises are developed in an interactive way using computeraided
learning in a fashion similar to computer games where players proceed through different levels
of difficulty. The pedagogy based on problem solving is employed to ensure that learning has been
achieved. Freeware is used for programming. Technological prerequisites include a moderate speed
internet connection and a computer providing a good quality display for graphics and video. The
feasibility of integrating this course to one of the post-graduate degrees programs in Alexandria
University, Egypt has been tested and evaluated in light of regulations concerning teaching methods and exams directives of the Ministry of higher Education in Egypt. Obstacles and facilitating elements
are discussed as well as targeted quality standards.
