摘要:The global overview of water availability versus population stresses the continental disparities, and in particular, pressure put on the Asia which supports more than half the world’s population with only 36% of the world’s water resources. Presently, over 1.1 billion people lack access to improved water supply and the Asia has the highest share of people unserved by water supply –65%. Over 2.4 billion people lack access to improved sanitation and the Asia has 80% of them. From the point of sustainability of resources, surface- and groundwaters are facing serious threat of pollution due to disposal of industrial effluents, domestic sewage, landfill leachates, agricultural activities and seawater intrusion in almost all of the IAEA’s Member States in Asia.
