Your Letters: Caring for our carers

IT'S heartening to learn that Dermot Ahern is finally beginning to realise the value of our forgotten angels of society - the carers.

The amount of people devoted to looking after dependents in their own homes continues to grow and I'm delighted to see that the Social Welfare Bill improvements will be taking effect soon. Carers provide 24-hour support and assistance. It's a gift we must never ignore - after all, we'll all need care some day.
