GULF WAR 11: Torture of innocents
TERRI JUDD in Southern IraqEVIDENCE of Saddam Hussein's punishment squads has been discovered in Iraq's western desert.
British army intelligence have found records of ear amputations meted out to anyone who spoke out of turn.
Detailed punishment documents were discovered by Army Air Corps officers searching a deserted training camp near Nasiriyah.
Within meticulously kept books, Iraqi officers detailed the names and punishments of locals who had been overheard or turned in for complaining.
"It had the names of anyone who didn't show enough support for Saddam, or complained about lack of education, lack of food or transport," said Captain 'Mac' McGee, a member of the team.
"They weren't rebels, just normal people trying to live a normal life. It was a record of people who had their ears chopped off to set an example."
