摘要：The article presents a concept for a model of spatial analysis which supports the spatial planning of urban municipalities in terms of identification of those areas excluded from building development. This model was based on predetermined environmental criteria for urban municipalities to which numerical values are attached. This may be helpful for spatial planning at a local level. The definition of these parameters permits the analysis of various scenarios. Models may also include another criterion in terms of areas where building development is not to be permitted. Making the present model easily accessible to local communities may enhance their participation in the spatial planning process. This article also presents the difficulties encountered during the verification of the model. The study puts the stress on the necessity of integrating environmental data into the geographic information systems based on the reference database. Every single Polish commune should have such a database. Another issue given special consideration therein is the advantage conferred in the short term by the greater use of advanced methods of GIS in spatial planning.
