摘要：In this article the essence of functions of the big city and the main classifications of functional types of the cities is analysed.It is characterized the main historical stages of a development of the city of Kharkov,since its basis so far.The city-forming functions answering to each of historical stages of a development of the city are defined.It is revealed regularity of change of city-forming functions of the city of Kharkov depending on requirements of society and historical conditions.The direction of further development of functions of the city and the most developed function of the city of Kharkov in the modern historical period is defined.
其他摘要：У статті проаналізовано сутність функцій великого міста на основі класифікації функціональних типів міст.Охарактеризовано основні історичні етапи розвитку міста Харкова починаючи з його заснування до теперішнього часу.Визначено містоутворюючі функції,що відповідали кожному з історичних етапів розвитку міста.Виявлено закономірність зміни містоутворюючих функцій міста Харкова в залежності від потреб суспільства та історичних умов.Визначено напрямок подальшого розвитку функцій міста та найбільш розвинуту функцію міста Харкова у сучасному історичному періоді.
