摘要:The skill of observation, which is defined as "a detailed and planned examination of an object, an event or a fact in order to understand its characteristics,” has a significant function in the language acquisition process. Gaining information being the foremost, the observation skill has an undeniably great importance in the acquisition of social skills, communication skills, interpersonal relations, skills of analysis-synthesis and evaluation, critical thinking and interpretation skills, and making inferences. The observation skill is not a separate learning field in Turkish Language Teaching Programs, but it is presented as a field to support the language skills and cognitive skills which should be acquired by students. In this study, the aim was to determine the necessity of the observation skill, which is considered a scientific process skill and is an important factor in acquiring knowledge, social learning, and role modeling and to assess the importance it has been given in the Turkish Teaching Programs since the foundation of the Turkish republic up to the present day. The main data source of the research is the studies in the literature and all Turkish Teaching Curricula that were implemented. Hence, the method of the study is document review.
