摘要：An important way to develop the professional activity of rural residents is to shift away from monofunctional rural development towards the diversification of agricultural holdings to initiate and develop nonagricultural activities. For the farmers, this means accessing an additional source of income and increasing farming profitability while continuing their agricultural activities. In many cases, the concept of multifunctional rural development – which assumes that agriculture should no longer be the only function of rural areas – has become a versatile solution for preserving the basic form of agriculture, especially in a highly fragmented agricultural landscape. The purpose of this paper is to present a case study on non-agricultural activities in selected European Union countries as examples of good practices that can be inspiring to the Polish rural population willing to engage in non-agricultural activities. The case studies show how to conduct non-agricultural activities while maintaining farm production.
