摘要：Nowadays the European economy is facing a major challenge of the fourth industrial revolution that has introduced changes related to the society and economy. The paper aims to show implications of the revolution, with reference to existing competences of employees, particularly with respect to the digital sphere. The study is based on literature sources and presents efforts to improve digital competences and to prevent the digital divide both at national and regional level. The efforts will bring benefits such as development of competences of employees and increased competiveness of regions thanks to adequately prepared human resources.
