摘要：The Washington State Legislature convened its 105-daysession on Monday, Jan. 14, in what we expect to be a busyyear. Democrats control the agenda in Olympia after significantly increasing their margins in the November election. Democrats control the Senate 28-21 and the House by57-41. Twenty-eight new legislators were sworn into theHouse and Senate last week.Each biennium is comprised of a long year (105 days)and a short year (60 days) in which bills may be enactedinto law. In addition to changes in law, during long sessions, the Legislature must enact a two-year balancedoperating budget.
