But overtwo days at multiple events last month, Washington stategrowers made sure to impress upon U.S. Department ofAgriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue that uncertainty intrade threatens their livelihoods.Perdue was visiting the Pacific Northwest as part of his“Back to Our Roots” tour. Besides Washington, he alsospent time in Idaho, Oregon and Alaska. While in EasternWashington, he held a breakfast and fireside chat hostedby Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) in Spokane, atelunch with producers at The McGregor Company in Colfaxand toured Washington State University’s (WSU) agriculturalresearch facilities. The next day, before heading to Oregonand the ports in Vancouver, he and Rep. Dan Newhouse(R-Wash.) held a farm hall breakfast in the Tri-Cities hostedby the Washington Farm Bureau.
