摘要：Every June, the Washington Wheat Foundation trustees gather to review and awardeducational grants to Washington nonprofit entities that support programs and activitiesthat increase the public awareness of farming’s responsible approach to the essential productionof our safe food supply and the development of new knowledge about environmentallysound farming practices.This year’s recipients include:• Washington Agriculture and Forestry Education Foundation (AgForestry). They are“cultivating leaders who constitute a dynamic network that is working daily to keepWashington state’s agriculture, forestry and natural resource industries vibrant andgrowing.”• Northwest Natural Resources Institute. They are “educating teachers and students aboutthe importance of natural resources in their daily lives.”• Washington State FFA Foundation Washington Agriculture Leadership Experience.They are “bringing advanced FFA members together from every corner of the state,spending time with industry representatives touring facilities, exploring career paths,asking questions and team building with their own peer groups.”• Washington State FFA Foundation 212/360 curriculum. They are “bringing new and advancedFFA members to a retreat that engages them in leadership, career advancementand team building activities with focus toward FFA chapter growth and agricultureindustry recruitment.”Each organization has visibly and measurably built and strengthened current and futureagricultural leaders. They provide these leaders tools and skills needed to increase agriculturalawareness and demand. We are always impressed with the results and encouraged bythe outlook of future endeavors.
