摘要：Aim of this paper is to determine quantitatively the total and different uses of words and word classes in secondary school students' writings. In the light of identified themes and issues, it is aimed to transform acumulation of students' writing habit to skill and identify differences in vocabulary. For this purpose, it is evaluated whether there is a significant difference or not in terms of word classes between the texts which is written in 7th grade and 8th grade Turkish lesson by the same students. In the study, qualitative research methods and content analysis were used according to descriptive survey method. Population of study is composed of secondary school students and the sampling consists of 72 students in 7th grade and who continue studying in these classes in also 8th grade. The data were collected through practice of students' written expression about the themes that is common in 7th and 8th grades and percentages and frequency interpreted using the Simple Concordance Program 4.07. According to the results, quantitatively the total and different uses of words are decreased in 8th grade. The findings demonstrate that students use mostly the noun among word classes.
