摘要:Ultrasonography(USG) images help physicians toexamine and detect the abnormalities in the thyroid glands liketumor or cysts. These images are often affected by the occurrenceof speckle noise which makes the fine details of the image unclearand degrades the quality of the image obtained. Hence filteringthe speckle noise becomes important in ultrasonography images.It is an essential step in the preprocessing of medicalultrasonography image. There are various techniques used for theremoval of speckle noise. In this paper, a comparison of threetechniques namely Frost filter, spatiotemporal filter and SRADfilter is done based on their performance in reducing the specklenoise from the USG images.Among these, SRAD filter gives betterperformance over the other two methods in terms of meanpreservation, variance reduction and edge localization
