摘要:The purpose of this study is to determine the job satisfaction levels of the teachers participating in the study and to investigate whether their job satisfaction levels differ with respect to certain variables. The participants of the study were 297 science teachers (physics: 104, chemistry: 105, biology: 87 and 1 N/A) from secondary schools in the city of Diyarbakir (Turkey). The research data were collected with a questionnaire form applied to determine the participants’ demographic backgrounds and with the Job Satisfaction Scale. For the analysis of the data, frequencies, percentages, mean scores, standard deviations and t-test were used. As for the multiple comparisons, ANOVA and Scheffe test were used. According to the mean scores that the participating teachers received from the Job Satisfaction Scale, they had a medium level of job satisfaction. It was also revealed that the teachers’ levels of job satisfaction did not differ depending on their gender, their experience in teaching, their field of teaching, their marital status and the location of the school. In Turkey, the Ministry of National Education should take all the financial, social and cultural precautions to make the profession of teaching favorable and to prevent preservice teachers from becoming a teacher incidentally.
