摘要：The topic of the paper is "Ordeal by Innocence" written by Agatha Christie. It isan interesting novel to read. To find out the meaning of the novel, the writerthen translates it into Indonesian. Translation is the process of transmitting themeaning of utterances in one language into another without changing the realmeaning of the text. The writer also did not translate word by word, because itcan makes the real meaning of the text is changed. The writer chooses thetranslation study for research because the writer wants to find out the problemsor difficulties in translating the "Ordeal by Innocence" such as idiomaticexpressions, grammatical structures, cultural contexts, and situational contexts.In translating the novel, the writer is using principles in translating likeaccuracy, naturalness and clearness. The writer also used theory of translationand dictionary of idioms to analyze the data. All of that are the important thingsto make a good translation. The work of translating is successful if the targetlanguage readers do not recognize the work as translation at all, so the translatormust emphasizes the factors above.
