摘要：Mostra-se como a abordagem sistêmica com a hipercomplexidade pode solucionar problemas onde abordagens tradicionais não as conseguiram, como no caso clássico de Kroeber, do comportamento inesperadamente regular da moda feminina, implicando um determinismo por ele inaceitável. A solução está em reintroduzir o indivíduo, descartado por Kroeber como irrelevante. Deve-se compreender o todo, não apenas os seus componentes, pois a complexidade longe da estabilidade traz como característica emergente um princípio de organização. Além do modista, deve-se considerar os indivíduos os seus consumidores, justamente com as compulsões (limitações) físicas e culturais (normativas). ABSTRACT The modern systems approach can lead to certain solutions for certain scientific problems where previous approaches failed. We reexamine the unexpected regularities in women's fashions encountered by Kroeber, who rejected the role of the individual as irrelevant and could not accept the determinism implied by his results. One must consider the whole system, as well as its components, as complexity far from stability brings forth an emergent principle of organization. One must consider not only the fashion designer but also the customers making decisions, and the physical and cultural compulsions.
